What am I wearing to the wedding?

What am I wearing to the wedding?Matthew 22:1-14

There are those God has as his chosen people, the Jews.  The Old Testament shows us they have been hard headed and cold hearted.  Yet his love persists.

God gave the Jews many prophets and His son, Christ Jesus as His servant to invite them into his grace - His wedding banquet.

Some were too busy and didn't pay attention and turned down the offer.  Some rebelled and killed the prophets and killed Jesus.

Through His Son, and with help from the Apostles, he then invited anyone on the street (all us sinners) to come to Him, to his wedding banquet.

Some of us accepted His offer and promised to attend.

But what should we wear to His wedding banquet?

Here is my understanding...

After we accept Christ as our personal saviour and Lord of our life, we must change.

  • Change our thoughts
  • Change our behaviour
  • Change everything about ourselves of this world

We change our clothes - what we wear in this life on our way to our death.

The question I ask myself, "So, I'm going to the Wedding Banquet - coool.  Hmmm what shoud Io wear?"

What do you think?

  • I'm too busy to wash my clothes, I'll just put on this dirty dress, this stained suit.
  • Since I'm invited, it doesn't matter what I wear - how about those faded jeans?  They make me feel comfortable.
  • It's important for me to be comfortable, then I'll be a better guest

Matthew 22:11-13 tells us that even if we go to the wedding banquet, it is important to dress appropriately.

The Lord didn't throw out the person that brought a lousy gift or a meager donation.  The Lord threw out the guest that didn't take time to dress (live) the right way.
